Lukashenka to meet with Putin in Moscow on March 3
The Russian capital will host a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Union State.
On March 3, Alyaksandr Lukashenka will meet with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. On this day, the Russian capital will be hosting a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Union State. The news came from Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reported. He did not confirm that the meeting will touch upon the issue of Minsk loan but said: "Of course, the whole complex of bilateral Russian-Belarusian relations will be discussed."
The day before, during a meeting of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Union State Secretary Grigory Rapota (see. Video), it was stated that the meeting in Moscow will touch upon a "rethinking of economic and trade relations" between the countries and the military doctrine of the Union State.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka said in late January that, if necessary, Russia will "always put a shoulder to lean on". However, he said that the need for large loans was not there yet. Later, the Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Moscow is ready to provide new loans to Minsk "in case of emergency".
By the way, this year Belarus will spend about $4 billion to service its foreign debt.
