Lukashenka: Sanctions are nonsense, West good for nothing (video)
Belarus president describes West's sanctions as total nonsense when meeting Russia's Kaluga oblast governor Anatoly Artamonov.
The meeting took place on April 4 in Minsk. Lukashenka's statement apparently came in response to US and EU sanctions against Russian officials over the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
"Sanctions and other things are total nonsense and blabbering. The West today is good for nothing. That should be our assumption," Lukashenka is quoted by state news agency BELTA as saying.
According to Lukashenka, Belarus officials have lived under sanctions for two decades. "No creep is born on Earth yet not to understand what Russia means and what sanctions are and what could be the consequences. Thirdly and most importantly, thanks to God, we can this way focus on our domestic issues and internal problems. They will help us become stronger so that we become unshakable in the future. This is what sanctions will bring about," said the head of state.
