Mikola Statkevich detained in Minsk
Mikola Statkevich is an active organizer and participant of many protest actions.
Former presidential candidate and chairperson of the Belarusian National Congress Council Mikalai Statkevich has been detained in Minsk, the politician’s wife Maryna Adamovich wrote on Facebook. It happed on his way to a meeting at about 12 p.m. on Saturday.
“Mikalai was arrested not far from home at about 12 p.m. He was heading for a meeting. He is in Akrestina Street prison now. He will spend 15 days there. Autumn is coming…” Maryna Adamovich wrote.
Mikola Statkevich organized a number of street actions in Minsk. In particular, he brought his adherents to the centre of the city on the official Independence Day on July 3. There will be bigger protest actions in Minsk at the beginning of September, he promised.
