One more state to build wall to stop migrants
About 19.5 thousand migrants crossed the Croatia-Slovenia border in the four days after the closure of the border. The Slovenian police accompanied a column of 2 thousand migrants to a refugee camp near the city of Brežice. Slovenia can only accept up to 6 thousand migrants, Euronews reports.
Slovenia has the population of 2 million people and can hardly cope with the influx of migrants. President Borut Pahor is planning to ask the EU for additional police forces to enhance border control. The bill allowing the usage of the Slovenian Army to help patrol borders may come into force today, on October 21.
The Slovenian Ministry of Internal Affairs does not exclude the possibility of building a border barrier like in Hungary.
The influx of migrants has skyrocketed recently, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees said. Refugees are trying to reach their destinations in Austria and Germany before winter.
