Operative-Analytical Centre to control international traffic in Belarus
The President’s centre has been allowed to tap all the traffic in our country.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed order #46 On using telecommunication technologies by state organs and other organizations on January 23. A so-called republican cloud platform for information resources and systems of the state structures will be created on its basis.
The new law has changed decree #515 of September 30, 2010 On measures of development of data networks in the Republic of Belarus. It expands the powers of the National Traffic Exchange Centre. The structure has been allowed to tap Belarusians’ messages and traffic and also to “to control the international traffic and access to foreign networks”, charter97.org reports.
According to the document, “international traffic includes phone calls, telegrams, service and information messages, network packets regardless of the used protocols between the republic of Belarus and foreign networks when two foreign states exchange messages with the help of networks situated on the Belarusian territory.”
In other words, the President’s Operative-Analytical Centre has been allowed to tap all the traffic reaching our country.
