Opposition activist who offered to crown Lukashenka fined in Minsk
Mikalai Lusto was detained on July 24 near the building of the Central Election Commission.
On Monday, July 27, Moscow court of Minsk found Mikalai Lusto guilty of participating in an unsanctioned picket. Judge Tatstsiana Matyl fined him 4.5 million rubles, Radio Liberty reports.
According to the Euroradio, on July 24, an activist of the public association 'Alternatyva' (registered in Latvia) and a member of the BPF Party held a picket at the building of the Central Election Commission. With the poster 'Why choose? Crown! No to elections!' Mikalai Lusto stood there less than a minute before he was detained.
The opposition activist pleaded partially guilty. He did not deny that he held a picket, but said that he was guided by the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression and right to peaceful assembly.
