Petrykau court fines freelance journalists

Two freelance journalists, Kastus Zhukouski and Andrei Tolchyn stood trial in Petrykau District Court on September 27 over their video report about abandoned houses in the former military town of Myshanka. The video was broadcast by independent TV channel Belsat.
Judge Andrei Bahdanik pronounced the journalists guilty of illegal production of mass media materials for the TV channel Belsat that is not accredited in Belarus, BAJ press service reports. Zhukouski and Tolchyn will have to pay BYN920 each (20 base amounts).
It is the eighth fine for Zhukouski this year. The whole sum of his fines has reached BYN7130 (3550 EUR).
