Prosecutor General's Office to investigate ‘reconstruction’ of Military Cemetry
The law has been violated during the so-called reconstruction of the Military Cemetery, the Prosecutor General's Office admitted. Historian Zmitser Krymouski has received an e-mail from Minsk Prosecutor General's Office. “The repairs resulted in a violation of the law on protection of historic and cultural legacy,” the letter said.
"Some of the crosses, monuments and fences were dismantled without the permission of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. They were supposed to be painted and undergo minor repairs,” executive senior assistant to Minsk Prosecutor A. Sharabaika stated.
The Prosecutor General's Office has received the documents describing the mentioned violations. Officials will demand to suspend the reconstruction of the cemetery.
