Putin may visit Belarus in June
Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Belarus in June to attend the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy said on April 14. The Russian president has preliminary agreed to come. "We would like that to happen and are expecting [him]," BelaPAN quoted Rusy as saying.
DPM clarified that the Forum of Regions in Minsk with the social policy agenda was "a joint idea of the two presidents - they had discussed it in Sochi." Belarus and Russia had earlier held two similar forums on the territories of the both countries - one on agrarian policy and one on industrial policy.
The 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia took place on 17-18 September 2015 in Sochi with Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin attending. The 3rd Forum was initially scheduled for June 8-9 in Minsk but later shifted to June 7-8. The forum will focus on social and humanitarian issues.
