135 Belarusian officials may be added to EU's "black list"
The European Union plans to expand the sanctions against the official Minsk. The decision may be taken on January 23.
According to the information provided by UNIAN, head of the European Commission's Unit for Relations with Russia, issues of the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, regional cooperation and the OSCE Gunnar Wiegand has said this at the session of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs. According to the diplomat, the EU may include 135 more Belarusian officials into the list of persons banned to enter the EU countries. These are the people who put pressure on human rights activists, journalists, representatives of the civil society.
Apart from the above, diplomatic sources inform that the list of the Belarusian enterprises the actives of which will be frozen and any operations with which will be prohibited may also be expanded.
Let us remind you, the EU's "black list" includes more than 200 Belarusian officials now. The name of state leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka tops the list.
