Belarusians commemorate Tadeusz Kościuszko in Warsaw (photo)
The leader of the 1794 Uprising was born on February 4.
Members of the Belarusian National Memory came to his monument in the Polish capital with white-red-white flags on Monday. The Belarusians laid flowers near the monument and head of the organization Anatol Mihnavets made a brief speech. Belarusians will also visit Kościuszko barrow in Krakow today.
Tadeusz Kościuszko was born in the village of Mereczowszczyzna (the current Ivatsevichy District, Belarus) on February 4, 1746. Kościuszko was a political and military figure in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth , fought during the American Revolutionary War and he is a national hero of Belarus, Poland and the USA as well as an honorary citizen of France.
