Deputy candidate threatened with fine for use of Mahileu city symbol
If Aksana Zakreuskaya does not erase the heraldic symbol from her leaflets and posters, she will be fined for Br 2 million.
A deputy candidate of the "Tell the truth" campaign said that no one made any comments when she printed her production and provided the layout to the district commission.
On Monday, the district commission No. 87 received a complaint at her from the Mahileu city executive committee. The commission recommended that Zakreuskaya should correct the mistake. Otherwise she will be fined and warned. The candidate herself said that it is impossible to correct the propaganda materials: all flyers and posters have already been distributed and pasted around the district.
HR defender Barys Buhel states that the commission’s requirement is illegal, because the city symbol was used not for the commercial purposes. A city symbol belongs to the city inhabitants, it is not the property of the city executive committee, said Buhel.
