FEMEN activists meet patriarchy Kirill in Kiev (photo)
The women's movement has conducted an action aimed against the imprisonment of the members of the band Pussy Riot.
A topless FEMEN activist ran up to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarchy Kirill, right on the runway where he was giving a press conference. She shouted: "Go away!" and was detained. The girl had the inscription "Kill Kirill" on her back, reports the BBC.
Patriarchy Kirill arrived in Kiev to conduct the traditional service dated for the 1024th anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus.
According to the press release distributed by FEMEN, the girl tried to express her protest against "the patriarchy's anti-state activities" and "the illegal imprisonment of anti-Putin activists who had to stand the humiliating trial".
Evidently, the members of the band Pussy Riot accused of hooliganism in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour are meant here.
