"Narodnaya Volya" fails in suit
The Supreme Economic Court has not satisfied the newspaper’s appeal to nullify the warning pronounced by the Ministry of Information.
Lawyer Harry Pahanyaila who appeared for the newspaper’s defense has informed on air that the reason for the refusal was not explained in court.
Pahanyaila: "We have not been informed about the motivation yet, it was not announced in court. Only the final decision to refuse our appeal was announced. It is clear why the court did it…”
The decision was predictable because, in the lawyer’s opinion, the judicial power is not independent. “Courts are set into the system of suppression of any civil initiative”, - thinks Pahanyaila.
Nevertheless, the editorial staff of “Narodnaya Volya” is going to appeal the decision of the Supreme Economic Court.
Let us remind you that “Narodnaya Volya” was going to appeal the warning “for distribution of information on behalf of an unregistered organization” pronounced by the Ministry of Information on March 14, 2011.
