National Bank not to sell currency to exchange offices and other banks
The rule according to which commercial banks could buy currency directly from NBB existed for just a week.
Commercial banks are no longer able to maintain their currency exchange offices by buying currency from the National Bank. All currency exchange offices will be maintained only by the currency sold by the citizens, as well as by the commercial banks' own expenses and currency from their clients' accounts, the National Bank of Belarus has decided.
This is not the first limitation of the currency market this month. A week ago, on March 15, the NBB limited commercial banks in buying non-cash foreign currency. The term for its reservation was increased from 1 day till 30 days.
