Nyaklyayeu: No participation in election if Square is needed
But it may be needed unless the opposition and OSCE make the authorities change the Election Code.
Leader of the campaign "Tell the Truth!" Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu has commented on the organization's intention not to take part in the election-2015 if the current Election Code remains unchanged:
"If everything stays the way it is now and if we need to go to the Square again, we may refuse to participate in the election campaign. Everything will depend on the results of 2014 before the home straight of 2015."
Nevertheless, "Tell the Truth!" will take part in the local elections this year regardless of changes in the Election Code.
A delegation of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights spent several days in Minsk not long ago. The delegates met MPs, representatives of the Central Election Commission, leaders of political structures and the civil community. Their aim was to discuss the last election campaign and OSCE recommendations.
