Nyasvizh Castle has a new tower! (photo)
The builders finished assembling of the dome right on the eve of the Orthodox Easter.
The story with the incorrect onion-shaped dome lasted for 8 years - since June 2004, when a dome dated early XVI century appeared on the castle, restored by the end of XVIII century. The society and the specialists protested against such historical inaccuracy during all these years.
The money for the new-old tower was collected by common efforts - from the Belarusian physical persons and enterprises to representatives of the Radziwill family. The new tower was approximately 1,5 billion roubles, and this includes works on its assembling. Its weight is 15 tons. A special crane worked in the castle for a little more than two days - they operatively dismantled the old dome and hoisted the new one.
Since this moment, all souvenirs, pictures and postcards of the castle with the onion-shaped dome become a rarity, and the castle have at last acquired its real appearance - this is how many generations of the Radziwills remembered it.
Here you can see how they replaced the "onion".
