Police refuse to look for hackers of Viasna and Belarusian Partizan
The information about the crime published on the hacked websites is not a reason for investigating it.
Head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Kanstantsin Shalkevich told Euroradio:
Shalkevich: “The information published on the Internet by unofficial sources cannot be considered a request to investigate the case. The victim should write an application and bring it to the District Department of the interior. The owner, founder, editor-in-chief or something like that should admit that it is his website and that his image has been spoilt. He should ask the police to investigate it!”
However, the victims can ask the police for help only if they are Belarusian citizens or their resource is in the domain zone “.by”.
The websites Belarusian Partisan and Viasna were hacked on April 25. The hackers explained their actions in the main page of Belarusian Partisan. All the headlines were replaced with those of the opposite meaning on Viasna.
