Radzkou: Belaya Rus is pro-government
A Euroradio reporter has attended the meeting of "Belaya Rus" - the country's biggest civil organization.
Alyaksandr Radzkou, head of the organization and senior deputy head of the President's Administration read out Alyaksandr Lukashenka's greetings for the present. Lukashenka did not manage to attend the meeting for some reason.
And he should have. There were many people worth looking at - starting from young girls in miniskirts with the symbols of the organization to representatives of the state elite - the Ministers of Justice and Information and head of the National Bank. Singer Iryna Darafeyeva was among the VIP guests. The assembly hall of the Palace of the Republic was full - there were no seats for journalists.
Radzkou made the first speech. He described all the good things done by the organization in the five years of its existence and boasted that 63 out of 870 candidates supported by "Belaya Rus" at the parliamentary election had become MPs.
Radzkou touched upon the issue of turning the organization into a political party. He said that it was not possible because no name for the party had been chosen. And then he surprised everyone: "A party needs to struggle for power. But our organization supports the authorities..."
The organization's endless success was described afterwards, even BATE's victory in the match with Bayern was mentioned.
Tatstsyana Kalitsina, deputy head of the administration of Minsk Moscow District Court, made an unexpected suggestion: "It is necessary to attract their youth (Western European, - Euroradio's note) to us. It is difficult to influence MEPs, but you can affect the youth". Unfortunately, she could not describe all the ideological plans - every speaker was allowed to speak for only 40 minutes.
Voting for changes in the Statute was organized after the speeches. None of the 415 delegates voted contra. Surprisingly, journalists noticed copies of Radzkou's speech and delegates' answers in the hands of some delegates. However, such trifles could not change the festive mood of the meeting.
The meeting of the country's biggest organization took 3 hours and 48 minutes. Opposition structures can only dream of such efficiency.
