Russia to provide Belarus with NPP credit and gas for $164
Belarus’ gas debt will be restructured.
The credit allocated for the construction of Astravets NPP will total 10 billion dollars and will have to be returned within 15 years. Russian PM Vladimir Putin has claimed it at a meeting of the presidium of the Russian government today, informs RIA Novosti.
At the same time, this year’s gas debt will be remitted. According to Vladimir Putin, the debt will be restructured next year “because of the difficult situation the Belarusian economy is in”.
The debt appeared because Belarus bought gas for 299 dollars for one thousand cubic metres while the contract price was 279 dollars. Minsk will have to pay only 164 dollars for one thousand cubic meters of Russian gas in the first quarter of 2012.
