Square convicts to starts serving sentences today
The sentences pronounced to participants of the protest action in Independence Square on December 19 Zmitser Novik and Alyaksandr Malchanau will come into power
on March 12.
They have been accused of mass disorders and sentenced to three and three a half years of imprisonment respectively.
It is known that Zmitser Novik will be sent to the colony “Vitsba-3” and Malchanau – to Babruisk colony.
Alyaksandr Atroshchankau sentenced to 4 years in a top-security prison on March 2 has sent an appeal and is waiting for it to be considered in court.
One more person imprisoned for participation in the mass disorders, Vasil Parfyankou, also sent an appeal. Minsk Frunze District Courts sentenced him to four years in a top-security prison. Parfyankou is also waiting for the court’s decision now. According to human rights defenders, he has to be sent to a colony in Orsha, reports the human rights centre “Vyasna”.
