Statkevich’s father wants his son to plea for mercy
However, Victar Statkevich is sure that the ex-presidential candidate will never agree to do it.
Statkevich Sr. has informed Baranavichy newspaper “Intex-press” about it. He is happy about Andrei Sannikau and Zmitser Bandarenka’s release. But Victar Statkevich is not sure what helped them more – the pleas for mercy or the Belarusian authorities’ trade with the West.
According to the father, Mikalai Statkevich said that he would not plea for mercy even if his life was in danger because he did not consider himself a criminal. The political prisoner forbade his father to sign such appeals long ago.
Statkevich Sr. is mostly worried about the fact that he is unaware of what is going on with his son. Victar Paulavich says that many things are being concealed, he is not being told everything so that he would not be upset.
