Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Thomas Melia has claimed this on September 15 at a press-conference, answering BelaPAN's question. The U.S. representative has noted that Washington's position has been coordinated with the European Union, and that all political prisoners who appeared in prison after the peaceful demonstration on December 19, 2010 should be released.
Melia has also reminded that problems with democracy and human rights in Belarus have become the reason why the U.S. imposed sanctions on a series of Belarusian enterprises.
