Russia severs diplomatic relations with Ukraine
Russia’s representative in the UN Vitali Churkin has announced Russia’s decision.
The decision was made because Moscow does not recognize the legitimacy of the current Ukrainian government, UNIAN reports.
Moscow negatively reacted to the change of power in Ukraine after Victor Yanukovich’s escape from Kiev. It resulted in ‘the Crimean crisis’ – the Russian Army seized almost the whole territory of the autonomous republic. At the same time Russia refutes the fact that Russian soldiers are blocking Ukrainian military units in Crimea and claims that those people are members of the local ‘self-defence’.
