Tsikhanouskaya looks to recognize GUBOPiK and OMON as terrorist organizations

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya has launched the process of recognizing OMON (riot police) and GUBOPiK (Organized Crime and Corruption Police Force) as terrorist organizations. This issue was discussed during her meeting with the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok.

"Since the GUBOPiK and the OMON have turned into criminal gangs, we are starting the procedure to recognize these organizations as extremist or terrorist. All their employees who do not quit before the end of the investigation will be recognized as accomplices and will be subjected to sanctions and confiscation of property. Only those security officials who switch to the side of the people can count on amnesty," Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's press service reports.

During meetings at the Dutch government, Tsikhanouskaya also discussed international investigations against the crimes committed by the regime in Belarus. Stef Blok expressed his willingness to help with this.

Led by their commander Mikalai Karpiankou, the operatives of the Main Directorate for Organized Crime and Corruption (GUBOPiK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs became notorious for holding a real hunt for peaceful demonstrators. Karpiankou personally smashed the glass door of a cafe in the center of Minsk, where the demonstrators were hiding. It was the only shop glass broken since Belarusian protests erupted on August 9.

Karpiankou's actions did not go unnoticed: two days ago he was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
