Ukraine, Belarus to return to free-trade zone on Tuesday
Ukraine is set to lift special duties on some Belarusian goods on August 19.
In turn, Belarus cancels licenses for imports of certain Ukrainian goods. This was announced by Valyantsin Vyalichka, Ambassador of Belarus in Kyiv, reports interfax.by.
At a press conference in Kyiv on Monday, the Ambassador recalled that in April-May 2014 Belarus introduced licenses for some imported goods, in particular beer, pasta and confectionery products, cement, glass. This was explained by the need to streamline certain segments of the domestic market.
In response, Ukraine imposed high tariffs (over 55%) on the Belarusian refrigerators, tires, fertilizers, dairy products.
Now, according to Vyalichka, after mutual consultations restrictions were lifted by both Belarusian and Ukrainian government. From tomorrow, that is, from August 19, all customs offices will have circular notes stating that we are back to the free trade zone, said the Belarusian ambassador.
