USA defeats Belarus – 6:1 (video)
The first match of Glen Hanlon’s team has been unsuccessful.
The festive opening ceremony of the championship was organized in Minsk. 13600 people attended it.
The Belarusian team was okay in the first period but the Americans seized the initiative later. Brock Nelson opened the score during the 13th minute.
The USA scored three goals three minutes later and Andrei Stsyapanau managed to score a goal a few seconds before the second break – 1:4.
However, the Americans scored two more goals and the match ended with the score 1:6. It was a devastating victory.
Two more matches were played on Friday. Russia defeated Switzerland – 5:0 and France defeated Canada after penalty shots – 3:2.
Belarus will play with Kazakhstan in Minsk Arena on May 11. The match will start at 5.30 p.m.
