Victor Yanukovich invites Vitali Klichko to TV debates
They can be held on any national TV channel.
The debates should be accessible for the public at large, not only to the people in Maidan, head of the Ukrainian President’s press service Andrei Lysenko said.
Yanukovich-Klichko debates may be organized on any TV channel, he noted. The leader of the opposition party UDAR has not replied yet so it is too early to discuss the date of the debates, Lysenko said.
Victor Yanukovich offered TV debates to Vitali Klichko on January 25. Klichko invited Yanukovich to debates in Maidan Nezalezhnosti during the people’s council on February 9, UNIAN reports (see video). The politician and boxer also invited the Ukrainian President … to fight in the boxing ring. The President did not reply.
The Ukrainian government refused to sign an association agreement with the European Union in November 2013. Protest actions have been held in Kiev and other Ukrainian cities since then. Protesters demanded to sign the agreement with the EU at first. Then they demanded that the Cabinet should resign and people responsible for the brutal dispersal of Maidan on November 30 should be punished. Mykola Azarov’s government resigned. However, protesters want the other demands (an early election and release of all political prisoners) to be fulfilled now.
