Yarmoshyna: Inhabitants of small towns are not politically active

Ярмошына: Насельніцтва невялікіх гарадоў не абудзілася да палітычнай дзейнасці

Inhabitants of small Belarusian towns are not politically active now, chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna said in the programme Contours on ONT.

There are many people ready to take part in the next election campaign in big cities, Yarmoshyna noted. They will make use of their official status and influence on voters.

Yarmoshyna: "As for small towns, local VIPs are usually heads of agricultural enterprises and heads of local executive committees. There are no political parties there. When I speak about signature collection pickets, people ask me what they are. This is the traditional situation.”

The provinces may use the experience of Minsk election campaigns (everything that is not forbidden is allowed), Yarmoshyna hopes. It will increase voters’ political education, the CEC chairperson believes.
