Zmitser Dashkevich jailed for 12 days for anti-war action
The participants of the anti-war protest near the Russian Embassy on Sunday are standing trial in Minsk's Central District Court.
The participants of the action against the Russian aggression in Ukraine and journalists had been detained even before the action kicked off. About 30 people were arrested, including accidental passers-by and even an employee of the Russian Embassy. The journalists and some of the activists were shorlty released later on Sunday.
Today, activist Syarhei Finkevich was sentenced to 10 days in jail. Zmitser Dashkevich – to 12 days. Yauhen Tsihanau is still standing trial.
Dashkevich was delivered to the police in a minibus without seats filled with tyre casings, he managed to report. He refused to get in and the policemen used physical force and hand-cuffs, human rights website Viasna reports. Dashkevich was thrown down on the bus floor and one of the policemen stepped on him with his boots. Dashkevich lodged a complaint to the Investigation Committee.
