16:44 Vitsebsk Courier keeps premises
Vitsebsk Courier, an independent newspaper, is to remain in its premises, but has failed to find a printer. The Supreme Economic Court of Belarus on Monday cancelled the ruling of the Vitsebsk regional economic court, which said the rental agreement betweem Elsan company -- the landlord -- and Vitsebsk Courier newspaper was not valid.
The newspaper's case has been returned to the regional economic court for revision. In the view of Pavel Levinau from the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, the court thus decided to delay the time till the rental contract expires. Under the contract, Vitsebsk Courier can remain in the premises for five months.
The state-owned regional printing house denied it services to the newspaper last week. The previous issue of 1800 copies was multiplied at the usual office printers. It is not clear if today's issue will reach the newspaper's readers, our local correspondent Jadviga Staseuskaja reports.
