86 drivers were detained by the Belarusian traffic police on March 1, when the new Administrative Code came into effect, according to the press office of the Traffic Police Inspectorate.



Under the amended code, punishment for the violation of moving rules has become more stringent.

Speeding over 30 km/h is subject to a fine from 2 to 10 base rates. The repeated overspeeding at more than 20 km/h within a year is punished with a fine from 4 to 15 base rates or with banning he driver from driving for the period of one year.

38 drivers were detained while drunk-driving. This violaion will deprive the drivers of the driving license for one to three years.

The traffic police's press office refuted speculations that drivers were obliged to carry a medical certificate all the time as allegedly required by the amednments into the Administrative Code.
