19:15 Mіlіnkevіch meets Javier Solana’s representatives
The meeting of the leader of the Belarusian democratic movement Aliaksandar Milinkevich with Helga Schmidt (the head of the policy planning unit of the cabinet of the EU Foreign and Security Policy Chief Javier Solana ) and the Senior Advisor of the unit Pirkka Tapiola took place in Minsk today. Aliaksandar Mіlіnkevіch informed the European Radio for Belarus about it:
“It is a working visit. We discussed the question whether the authorities would agree on liberalization and democratization as long as it was a term of EU representatives. They are ready for cooperation but the authorities should show that they are beginning to introduce reforms.
The issue of March 25 was also discussed. Solana’s representatives said they were watching what was going on in connection with that celebration and that in some way it would be a test for Belarusian authorities.
We also talked about the fact tha, repressions did not stop, especially when it means persecution of youth activists”.
