50 Belarusians undergo military training in Ukraine (video)
Several dozens Belarusian citizens have formed a voluntary resistance squad, aiming to join the anti-terror operation in eastern Ukraine.
The Belarus Interior Ministry claims that the citizens of Belarus who go to the Ukrainian war wil face criminal responsibility under the article in the Criminal Code that deals with mercenarism. According to TSN TV-channel, the youngsters do not consider themselves mercenaries. However, they keep strong secrecy, fearing possible harassment by Belarusian secret services.
The legal status of Belarusian volunteers on the territory of Ukraine is yet to be defined. Officials in the city of Volyn are trying to have them legalized either with the National Guard or with the militia that are part of territorial defense battalions.
The Belarusians say their participation in the antiterrorist struggle of the Ukrainians has a symbolic meaning of showing fraternity of the Belarusian and Ukrainian peoples.
