About 15 activists of “Citizen” campaign detained in Minsk
About 15 activists of the “Citizen” campaign were detained for a short period of time in Minsk on December 10. The others managed to walk along Independence Avenue towards October Square with transparencies saying: “We have been forbidden to speak up!”, “We have been forbidden to gather in groups of more than three people” and “We have been forbidden to drink coffee”, reports BelaPAN. A coordinator of the campaign Mikita Krasnou informed that its activists had conducted an action in protest of the infringement of citizens’ constitutional right for the freedom of assembly in Belarus. The action was dated for the International Human Rights Day marked today.
The action was not authorized. Policemen tried to stop it, said Krasnou. Its participants were warned about the administrative responsibility, dragged out of transport and detained. Posters and other visual agitation tools were taken away from them together with the campaign’s scarves, agitation elements, badges and other things, informed Krasnou.
According to Krasnou, all the detained were let off without reports.
