According to rate of inflation, Belarus is 9th among other post-Soviet countries
According to the rate of inflation in January-May 2008, Belarus is ninth among other post-Soviet states.
According to the analysis of state statistic organs conducted by BelaPAN, Ukraine occupies the first position – the prices rose by 14.6% over the first five months of this year (January-May) there. It is followed by Azerbaijan (13.9%), Kyrgyzstan (10.4%), Latvia (8.4%), Russia (7.7%), Armenia and Moldova (7.4%), Tajikistan (6.8%), Belarus (6.6%), Lithuania (5.9%), Estonia (5.1%), Georgia (4.6%) and Kazakhstan (4.5%). There is no statistic information about Turkmenistan. Prices in Uzbekistan rose by 2.4% in the first quarter of the year.
Taking into account the rate of inflation in May, Belarus was sixth (1.3%) following Kyrgyzstan (3%), Azerbaijan (2.3%), Tajikistan (2.1%), Moldova (1.5%) and Russia (1.4%). Prices in Armenia and Ukraine rose by 1.3% just like in Belarus. The inflation in Kazakhstan was 1%, Latvia – 0.9%, Lithuania – 0.8%, Georgia – 0.7% and 0.6% in Estonia.
