African swine fever virus registered in Baranavichy district? (video)
This is how the representatives of the veterinary service explained their actions.
According to the newspaper Іntex-press, the representatives of the veterinary service confiscated swine from the residents of a whole street in the village of Nizhnyae Charnikhova on June 26.
The people say that the veterinarians first made injections to the swine, then weighed them and threw into the truck. They also processed the sheds with some liquid.
At first, they gave no explanations to the villagers, but then said it was the African swine fever virus. They prohibited to grow pigs for four years to come.
The residents of other streets decided not to wait for the next visit of the vets and killed the pigs themselves.
Meanwhile, director of the Baranavichy district veterinary station Mikalaj Pakumejka says that the swine had some respiratory infection. Their analysis have been passed to the laboratory and it will take approximately three days to learn the results.
The African swine fever virus has been officially registered only in Hrodna region.
