Another anti-Islamist march organized in Dresden
The meeting has been held regardless of politicians’ appeals to cancel the action.
Thousands of protesters gathered in the centre of Dresden to take part in the march against the Islamization of Europe. PEGIDA organized the action after the terrorist acts in Paris.
The meeting was held regardless of German politicians’ appeals to cancel it, BBC reports. Thus, German Minister of Justice Heike Maas asked people not to attend PEGIDA marches and urged PEGIDA activists not to abuse the tragedy in Paris.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has promised to take part in another march. The march ‘For Open and Tolerant Germany’ initiated by the Muslim community leaders will be held on Tuesday. Merkel met Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoğlu on Monday and said: “Islam is part of Germany. I am the Chancellor of all Germans”.
People brought posters to the meeting in Dresden to express solidarity with the French cartoonists killed by Islamists in Paris. A similar meeting was also held in Berlin.
