Belarus CIS leader in unemployment growth
Belarus is leading official unemployment rating of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), CIS Statistical Committee reports. They can be found in the report on the socio-economic situation of the CIS countries in the first three months of this year, BelaPAN reports.
According to the report, over the past 12 months the number of unemployed in Belarus increased by 37.1%, in Kazakhstan - by 23%, in Moldova - by 22.8%, in Armenia - by 11,5%, in Azerbaijan - by 11 %, in Russia - by 6%. The decline in unemployment occurred in Ukraine (7.7%), Kyrgyzstan (2.1%) and Tajikistan (0.6%).
Unemployment benefit in Belarus is the lowest in the region. In Azerbaijan, it is the equivalent of 162 US dollars per month, in Moldova - 69 dollars, in Ukraine - 59, in Belarus, the average size of unemployment benefit is 261.3 thousand rubles ($ 13 equivalent).
Unemployment benefit in Belarus is less than 20% of the minimum subsistence budget, while in many countries it is theis aid that is one of the most important measures of people's support in case of job loss, economists have concluded.
