Belarus gives no refugee status to Ukrainian migrants so far
Meanwhile, over a thousand Ukrainians have emigrated to Homel region only.
The number of appeals filed by the Ukrainians to the migration services of Belarus grows. Only in Homel region, about 20 Ukrainian families apply to the corresponding institutions every day, writes Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The international organizations recognize that a military conflict is taking place in the South-East of Ukraine. According to the Belarusian legislation, only the people who arrived in the country from Luhansk and Donetsk regions are considered refugees or the persons who have the need for extra protection. Such people are granted the refugee status if they were harassed due to belonging to a certain social group - in connection with religion, race, nation or citizenship. However, no Ukrainian citizen has been given a refugee status because no one provided proofs that there were grounds for this.
Homel police claim they refused no one to register and obtain the working permit within 30 days. About 1200 people got special permits for working in Homel region since the beginning of the year, over 1000 of them are Ukrainians.
