Belarus plans to expand the areas for visa-free travel. The simplified entry procedure for foreigners will also be introduced in the regional airports and ground border posts, Belarusian Economy Minister Dzmitry Krutoi said. "The visa-free regime is a crucial decision that was taken," the state news agency BELTA reports quoting the Minister.

As of today, foreigners from 80 countries of the world, including the EU member states and the United States of America, can enter Belarus without a visa on condition that they arrive by plane at the Minsk international airport and stay for up to 30 days. Tourists can enter the Hrodna and Brest regions without a visa on the ground for up to 15 days.

Economy Minister stressed that the visa-free regime "has produced a serious effect in a short period of time."

Mr. Krutoi also said that the government of Belarus plans to sign an agreement with Russia on the mutual recognition of visas soon.
