Belarus to open 4 new gas reservoires
Belarus is to commission 4 gas reservoires in 2008, reports Interfax. The new reservoires will store up to 100 million cubic meters of natural gas. Yury Makarau, a deputy chief engineer at the Belenergo state company, said the reservoires would be located near Mazyr on the former salt exploration sites.
Since gas cannot penetrate through salt, the former salt caves will be especially reliable for gas storage.
Presently, there are 21 gas reservoires in Belarus.
