Belarus scientist gets top European award
Aleh Maslouski, a researcher with the Institute of Experimental Botanics at the National Academy of Sciences has been awarded with The Silver Leaf, the top European prize in the field of plant protection. The prize was given by the international organization Planta Europe for his role in developing a methodology for the European Plant Protection Strategy, reports Belta.
The scientist said that Belarus was the first among the CIS countries to have implemented a project to define key botanical objects on its territory. The list of objects includes 10 national parks of Belarus.
These territories are a key part of the European environmental system which requires proper protection.
