Belarusian boxer becomes European champion at 39
Sergey Khomitsky of Belarus knocks out England's Frank Buglioni who has never lost a single fight before.
They fought in Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday, April 12. The veteran of the Belarusian professional boxing Sergey Khomitski tried to become the WBO European champion by stealing the title from local boxer Frank Buglioni. In his turn, the Englishman threatened to knock the Belarusian out at a press conference before the fight.
However, the Belarusian seized the initiative in the first round. He was quicker, more accurate and precise. The Belarusian shocked Londoners by striking a heavy blow on his opponent. Khomitsky did not stop and kept finishing him. The Englishman was in a standing knock-out.
Sergey Khomitsky will turn 40 in September. He trains in the boxing hall of Belarusian State University of Physical Education. His coach is Kanstantsin Mahankou, a well-known specialist a few years younger than his pupil. World championship prize-winner Serghei Korneyev and famous Thai boxer Vital Hurkou also train in the same hall.
