Belarusian carries Russian flag at Paralympics, gets flat in Moscow
Official of the Belarusian Ministry of Sport Andrei Fomachkin has been presented a flat in Moocow, Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote on Facebook.
“An acquaintance’s friend” was inspired by Andrei Fomachkin’s deed and told Zakharova: “Maria, I am really inspired by Andrei Fomachkin who ignored international sports officials’ decision and brought a Russian flag to the opening ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio. I would like to present a flat to him. Can you help me?”
Zakharova has already seen the flat. The Russian official has promised to announce the name of Fomachkin’s sponsor later. Fomachkin arrived in Moscow on October 2, she added.
Belarusian sports official Andrei Fomachkin suddenly hoisted a Russian flag at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio. He violated the decision of the International Olympic Committee that had suspended Russia from the competitions for the use of doping. Fomachkin lost his accreditation at the Paralympic Games. Belarusian and Russian authorities approved his deed. Sportsmen’s opinions about Fomachkin differ.
