‘Belarusian spy’ to stand trial in Lithuania in January 2015
He is facing up to 15 years of imprisonment.
Vilnius Court will consider an espionage case in January 2015, ru.dlfi.lt reports. The suspect is an ex-employee of the Lithuanian state enterprise Oro navigacija.
The court has received seven volumes of case papers. They include 1300 documents and 26 media and video and audio recordings.
According to the case papers, Lithuanian citizen R.L. is accused of spying against the Lithuanian Republic for the good of Belarusian special services.
The man was reported to have been photographing documents and other objects in his study and sending the information to the main intelligence department of the Belarusian Armed Forces. Lithuania suspects him of collecting information about the Lithuanian Armed Forces, state enterprises and strategic objects.
However, the detained had no access to documents because he worked as an electrician, the man’s colleagues told Lithuanian mass media.
The man was detained a year ago and is facing up to 15 years of imprisonment.
