Belenki: Elections will not influence number of "Dziady" participants
Traditional "Dziady" march will take place in Minsk on Sunday, October 31. As it was informed to the European Radio for Belarus by the Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Christian Party of the Belarusian Popular Front Juras Belenki, the participants of the march would gather near the watch plant (Chaliuskintsau Park subway station) at 10 a.m. The march resulting in a meeting will start at 11 a.m.
The march will go the same route as last year, and the year before: Independence Ave, Kalinouski Street, Siadykh Street, Hamarnik Street, and Mirashnichenka Street. The meeting in Kurapaty is planned to start at 2.30 p.m.
Mr. Belenki said he doubted the electoral campaign would in some way influence the number of participants of the action:
Belenki: "I think this does not depend on whether there is an electoral or so-called "electoral" campaign going on in the country. My prediction is 6 thousand people participating in the march, and about 1500-2000 - in the meeting in Kurapaty".
