Birulyovo scared Muslims? (photo)
Unusually few Muslims are marking Kurban Bayram in Moscow, witnesses say.
Despite the fair autumn weather, unusually few Muslims are marking Kurban Bayram in Moscow, well-known Russian photographer Iliya Varlamov said. According to the police, 103 thousand people came to pray near Moscow Cathedral Mosque. About 150-179 thousand Muslims came there in the past years.
Muslims are marking Kurban Bayram on October 15-17 this year. They want to sacrifice a bull, cow or sheep to Allah like the prophet Ibrahim. The holiday marks the end of the Hajj – an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.
