BRUY nucleuses to be created at every Minsk enterprise
You will only be able to refuse if there are fewer then 10 young people working for your enterprise. ERB has got an interesting letter the BRUY is sending to Minsk enterprises. It says that according to the President’s order and the decision of Minsk City Executive Committee, a BRUY nucleus has to be created at every Minsk enterprise till New Year’s Day. The letter is signed by the acting secretary of Frunzenski District BRUY committee Volha Bayarovich. It even contains a model appeal for membership and information about membership fees.
- At first I received a phone call from Minsk City Executive Committee in October, - says a lawyer of one of enterprises such letters were sent to in her interview with ERB. We were asked to organize a meeting and invite a BRUY representative so that he could explain everything. It is rather difficult for us to organize such a meeting because we have affiliates scattered around the city. People work in shifts. So nothing happened. The director asked me to announce about the BRUY in the morning and I did it.
Now official letters from the Belarusian Republican Union of Youth are beings sent to them. The enterprise has to give a written account of the decision taken by the administration in five days.
“They have added all documents to those letters: a model appeal for membership and information about membership fees”.
ERB phoned to Frunzenski District BRUY committee. They confirmed that they were sending out such letters and explained that it was possible to refuse to create a nucleus only if there were fewer than 10 young people working for the organization.
BRUY: “You can send us a letter if there are fewer than 10 people under the age of 31 in your organization. You have to create a nucleus if there are more than 10 young people. You should send the letters to the deputy head of the ideology department and we will talk to you. Organize a meeting and our secretary will attend it. People will be asking questions and he will be answering”.
ERB tried to find to whether any meeting of the kind have already been organized but the BRUY responded that the information was to be kept a secret.
BRUY: “I cannot answer the question. Why do you need it? It is a secret. This information will appear on the web site of Minsk City Executive Committee in January”.
Interestingly, a written reply has to be sent to the BRUY if nobody agrees to join the nucleus.
“We replied that we have not created a BRUY nucleus because nobody was eager to join it. There are about 40 or 50 young people working here and none of them wants to join the organization”.
Nobody knows what is to become of such enterprises. There is no information about BRUY sanctions.
BRUY: “I don’t know what is going to be done afterwards”.
