Burial of Vasil Suprun to take place in Slonim on May 2
The burial of Vasil Suprun, the leader of a Belarusian anti-Stalin underground youth organization in 1946-1947, will take place in Slonim (Hrodna Region) on May 2.
He died of a serious illness this Monday at the age of 82. He is not only known as a fighter for the independence of our country and a political prisoner of Bolshevist prisons. He is a well-known Belarusian poet, student of local lore and archeologist.
Suprun published several books of collected verses, memoirs and studies of the history of Slonim district. At the same time he did not manage to get rehabilitation from the Belarusian state.
